Main CreditCare Exclusions

Definitions

'Critical Illness' – Cancer, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Heart Attack, Kidney Failure, Major Organ Transplant or Stroke, all requiring diagnosis by a doctor.

'Cancer' – Any malignant tumour characterised by the uncontrolled growth and spread of malignant cells and invasion of tissue. The term cancer includes leukaemia and Hodgkin's disease but the following are excluded:

  • All tumours which are historically described as premalignant, as non-invasive or as cancer in situ.
  • All tumours of the prostate unless historically classified as having a Gleason score greater than 6 or having progressed to at least TNM classification T2N0M0.
  • All forms of lymphoma in the presence of any Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
  • Kaposi's sarcoma in the presence of any Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
  • Any skin cancer other than invasive malignant melanoma.

Life, Accident, Sickness and Critical Illness exclusions.

  • Death, disability or critical illness due, directly or indirectly, to AIDS or HIV.
  • Death or disability resulting from any condition which was in existence at the start date of the term of cover and which is constant and controlled rather than cured or has recurring symptoms and has required long-term monitoring or treatment.
  • Death or disability resulting from any condition, whether diagnosed or not which you knew about or should reasonably have known about or which you had seen or arranged to see a doctor during the 12 months immediately before the start date of the term of cover. If you have been free from symptoms and have not consulted or received treatment from a doctor within a two year period prior to a claim this exclusion will not apply.
  • Disability due to normal pregnancy and childbirth related conditions.
  • Disability or critical illness due to an episode of self-harm, and alcohol or drug abuse.
  • Disability due to any psychotic, mental or nervous disorder including stress related conditions.
  • Benefits are restricted to 6 months for any back condition.
  • Critical illness which is suffered by you within 3 months of the Commencement Date or results directly or indirectly from:
    • AIDS or infection by HIV or
    • An episode of self harm, or
    • Your consumption of alcohol or
    • You taking drugs otherwise than under the direction of a Doctor provided that such direction is not given due to your treatment for drug addiction or dependence or
    • Civil Disorder, or
    • Ionising radiations or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear waste, from the combustion of nuclear waste, from the combustion of nuclear fuel, or the radioactive, toxic, explosive nuclear assembly or nuclear component thereof.
  • Critical illness resulting from a condition which is existing, was diagnosed, or for which you received treatment prior to the start of the term of cover.

Unemployment Exclusions

  • If self-employed you must be without work due to your business ceasing to trade as a direct result of it being unable to pay its debts as and when they fell due.
  • Voluntary unemployment.
  • Unemployment which is a regular or recurrent feature of the occupation.
  • Unemployment which is a result of your own acts, omissions or negligence.
  • Fixed term contractual employment that is shorter than the term of the Agreement unless you have been in continuous employment for at least two years with the same employer or have been in continuous employment for 12 months and your contract has been renewed at least once.
  • You are under, or are aware of being given notice of unemployment at the time the Agreement is taken out.
  • Unemployment notified or occurring within the first 60 days of the start of the Agreement.

Carer Cover Exclusions

  • If you are not registered with Social Services as a carer.
  • The sickness, disease, condition or injury of the person being cared for existed before the Agreement starts.
  • Your work ceases for any other reason not associated with the need to become a carer.

CreditCare 5 – Keyman Exclusions

  • Death due, directly or indirectly, to AIDS or HIV.
  • Death resulting from any condition which was in existence at the start date of the term of cover and which is constant and controlled rather than cured or has recurring symptoms and has required long-term monitoring treatment.
  • Death resulting from any condition, whether diagnosed or not which you knew about or should reasonably have known about or which you had seen or arranged to see a doctor during the 12 months immediately before the start date of the term of cover. If you have been free from symptoms and have not consulted or received treatment from a doctor within a two-year period to a claim this exclusion will not apply.
  • No benefit in excess of £120,000 will be paid unless a health statement is completed and signed by the key person and has been accepted by the insurer who also has the right to call for an independent medical examination.

CreditCare 6 – Mastercare Exclusions

  • Death, accidental injury, temporary total disability or hospitalisation due, directly or indirectly, to AIDS or HIV.
  • Death, temporary total disability or hospitalisation resulting from any condition which was in existence at the start date of the term of cover and which is constant and controlled rather than cured or has recurring symptoms and has required long-term monitoring or treatment.
  • Death, temporary total disability or hospitalisation resulting from any condition whether diagnosed or not which you knew about or should reasonably have known about or which you had seen or arranged to see a doctor during the 12 months immediately before the start date of the term of cover. If you have been free from symptoms and have not consulted or received treatment from a doctor within a two-year period prior to a claim this exclusion will not apply.
  • Accidental injury, temporary total disability or hospitalisation resulting from an episode of self-harm, and alcohol or drug abuse.
  • Accidental injury, temporary total disability or hospitalisation arising from engagement in hazardous activities.
  • Accidental death arising from, or due directly or indirectly to, civil disorder or arising from an intentionally self-inflicted injury.
