New training scheme highlights commitment to professionalism within the motor industry
August 2005
Motor finance provider, Bank of Scotland Dealer Finance, has launched an Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) accredited training scheme aimed specifically at dealerships' sales managers.
The Sales Manager training programme has been developed by the Bank's specialist training group, Income Plus: Dealer Solutions, as part of an ongoing initiative to equip dealership managers and their staff with the management skills that can give them the edge in a highly competitive marketplace. It recognises the fact that softer issues and personnel management skills are becoming increasingly important in maximising a dealership's overall sales performance.
The training programme is available to sales managers of all levels and will generally take place within Bank of Scotland Dealer Finance's training facility at Speke, Merseyside. The programme consists of three modules. Each module comprises a three-day long course with approximately two months between each module.
The programme will enable managers of all levels to lead their team to achieve higher results by using monitoring and motivational techniques. Topics covered will range from leading an effective team, managing key performance, motivation, and recruitment and employment. In addition to the training, delegates will receive a bespoke post course follow-up by a dedicated Coaching Consultant. On completing the six month programme, each delegate receives an IMI qualification.
Paul Jordan, director of Bank of Scotland Dealer Finance's training division comments: "This is an exciting development and the interest there has been from dealerships already demonstrates that there is a real commitment to professionalism within the motor retail industry. The programme aims to promote best practice amongst sales managers and recognises that for dealers to fully embrace every sales opportunity, their teams must be professionally and effectively supported and developed."
He adds: "In the drive to secure additional Finance and Insurance income for our supporting dealers, the positive impact that professional and personal development and mentoring can have on maximising sales performance is being increasingly recognised. Dealership managers who demonstrate a commitment to ensuring their staff are offered full support and training and who embrace the concept of a highly skilled, highly trained management team can easily set themselves apart from competitors."
The Sales Manager course sits alongside the flagship Business Manager course, which was launched seven years ago and is also accredited by the IMI.
